Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti considering run at Congress

Republican Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti is considering a run at the 5th District Congressional seat currently held by Democrat Jim Himes in 2012.

The 56-year-old Lauretti, who is entering his 21st year as mayor of Shelton, told Hearst Connecticut Newspapers Thursday morning, “We need a change and change is in the air. Some people have approached me and talked with me about running.”

The other announced GOP hopefuls include Chris Meek of Stamford, who currently heads the START Now! nonprofit; Steve Obsitnik, of Westport, president and CEO of Quintel Technology Inc.; and David Orner of Darien, an executive with the CIT Group.
