Mitt Romney is parachuting into Connecticut’s Gold Coast — again.

Once considered a lock to win the Republican presidential nomination, an outcome that is now somewhat in question because of hard-charging Rick Santorum, Romney is scheduled to visit the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa for a March 14 fundraiser, according to multiple sources in the state GOP.

Tickets will set Romney’s supporters back $2,500 per person, the maximum allowed for the primary round of the presidential sweepstakes.

It’s doubtful any of Romney’s surrogates will get sticker shock, however.

Not only are the Gold Coast towns of Greenwich and New Canaan among the most generous ZIP codes to Romney’s presidential campaign, but a group of local Romney clones in the venture capital and hedge fund industry have bankrolled the pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future to the tune of $1.7 million so far this election cycle.
