Prix Fixe: Dinner with Mitt for ONLY $25K in Greenwich

For $25,000, there better be a vegetarian option.

Heck, gluten-free, too.

Rubber chicken ain’t gonna cut it with this crowd.

Not when the name on the dinner reservation says: Mitt Romney.

That’s how much Gold Coast Republicans are being asked to plunk down to break bread with the presumptive GOP presidential nominee during an invitation-only supper May 20 at the swanky Belle Haven Club in Greenwich.

The former Massachusetts governor will raise money for his campaign, the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee during the event, according to a copy of the invitation obtained by Hearst Connecticut Newspapers.

Couples are eligible for a discount, if one could call it that, of $40,000 for two plates.

The host committee of the event includes 2010 gubernatorial contender Tom Foley and state Sen. L. Scott Frantz, R-36th District, who earlier in the day will hold a much larger fundraiser for Romney at his Riverside home that is expected to net $1 million for the campaign.

If you think Romney is an expensive ticket, think again.

Aa small but influential group of Democrats that included Oscar winner Ron Howard, newswoman Jane Pauley and her “Doonesbury” cartoonist husband Garry Trudeau shelled out $30,400 per plate to have supper with President Obama at a September 2010 dinner in backcountry Greenwich.
