Sweeps week: McMahon’s new TV spot

The state Republican convention is a mere two days away and Senate contender Linda McMahon, looking to replicate her success at the party’s last conclave in 2010, is out today with a new 30-second television ad.

The theme of the spot, which shows McMahon touring several small businesses and her campaign says will run statewide, is “Why I’m Running.”

In it, McMahon, the former chief executive of WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) makes no mention of GOP rival Christopher Shays, but clearly seeks to contrast her business background against that of the former congressman.

“I’m not a lawyer or a career politician,” McMahon tells viewers. “To change Washington, let’s really change the kind of people we send there.”
