Dan Roberti, longshot 5th CD candidate, at least until Bill Clinton’s endorsement yesterday, offers what’s at stake in today’s voting

This from Roberti, a political newcomer from Kent whose Washington-insider father, Vincent, is an old Bridgeport pol and whose mother, a former Bridgeport school teacher, tragically died over the weekend from a six-year struggle with melanoma:

“The 5th District primary is critical for Democrats.  We must keep this seat Democratic so that there are strong voices in Washington advocating for job creation, women’s rights, and the safety net for our seniors – Social Security and Medicare.  The architect of the Republican attacks on Medicare is now the GOP candidate for vice president, Congressman Paul Ryan.  Now more than ever Connecticut’s 5th District must have someone in Congress with fresh ideas and the energy to counter GOP actions that hinder job creation and endanger protections for our seniors. I’m ready to tackle the job.”
