McKinney: Linda’s new BFF

He endorsed Christopher Shays.

He put out a robocall for him on primary day.

And he voted for the man who succeeded his late father as the congressman from the 4th District.

But on Wednesday, Republican state Senate Minority Leader John McKinney squired Linda McMahon through his hometown of Fairfield.

The newly-minted GOP Senate nominee, McMahon, earned McKinney’s endorsement less than 24 hours after she vanquished Shays.

McKinney says McMahon had been courting him consistently since she announced she would run for the Senate a second time.

The McMahon campaign reached out to McKinney last week to see if he would appear with her on the trail after the primary.

“Look, I’ve known Chris for 30 years. He’s been part of my family,” McKinney said in an interview outside Victoria’s Secret with McMahon.

“I’ve always been with Chris, never been against Linda.”
