Gov. Dan Malloy will speak at the Democratic convention in Charlotte, the Democratic National Convention Committee announced Friday morning.

Malloy is one of several speakers announced Friday morning, including Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, convention chair.

This won’t be the first time Malloy has delivered a speech at the DNC. In 2000, then the mayor of Stamford and the chair of the National Democratic Municipal Officials Conference, Malloy had a national audience at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

“The governor is honored to be speaking at the convention, and he is looking forward to the opportunity,” said Jonathan Harris, executive director of the Connecticut Democratic Party.

Harris said the governor was not yet sure what the topic of his remarks would be.
