GOP “bags” day one of convention

Sand bags outside the Bilmar Beach Resort in Treasure Island, Fla., Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012.

TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. — Location, location, location.

That’s what Republicans from the Constitution State thought when they scored a beachfront hotel assignment for the national convention.

Some rooms at the Bilmar Beach Resort open up right to the sand, including that of a certain Connecticut-based reporter embedded with the delegation.

Good thing they make suitcase stands.

Maybe I’ll sleep with my laptop.

The hotel is fortunately separated from the Gulf of Mexico by about three football fields of sand.

Signed, high and dry.
