A Connecticut Yankee in King George’s court

The only pinstripes at the spring training home of the New York Yankees Tuesday will be suits.

George Steinbrenner Field is scheduled to host batting practice for select Republican National Convention delegates, including a number from Connecticut.

There will also be a six inning ballgame pitting 20 House GOP members against each other, all before the convention is gaveled into its first session.

The event is sponsored by the Maverick PAC, which is headed by George P. Bush, the eldest son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and nephew of former President George W. Bush.

Tuesday’s forecast calls for highs of about 88 degrees, a 60 percent chance of rain and winds up to 30 mph.

Not sure how that’s going to work with a jam-packed convention agenda shortly thereafter.

This could lead to a wardrobe malfunction of epic proportions, unless the delegates can somehow pull off seersucker.

It’s got pinstripes.
