Roraback asks tv stations to pull DCCC ad

The 5th District Congressional race continued to heat up this week as state Sen. Andrew Roraback called on television stations to stop airing an advertising that began running this weekend from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

The ad, which began airing Saturday, depicts Roraback as a Tea Party Republican who will “fit right in” with Republican congressmen, adding that the GOP needs his vote to push through the Paul Ryan budget that “would essentially end Medicare.”

Roraback’s campaign sent a letter to television stations on Monday asking them to stop airing the commercial which he describes as a “false and misleading” advertisement.

While the ad appears to claim Roraback supports Ryan’s budget, the lawmaker said he he has on several occasions voiced his opposition to Ryan’s plan.

Roraback is facing off against former state Rep. Elizabeth Esty in the November election.

The candidates are set to face off in their first debate on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Warner Theater in Torrington.
