DSCC skewers McMahon over Social Security

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is trying to portray Linda McMahon as an out-of-touch multimillionaire who doesn’t rely on Social Security but wants to end entitlement programs in a new television ad released today in Connecticut.

The debut of the 30-spot comes just a day after a new Quinnipiac University poll showed the Republican McMahon leading Democrat Chris Murphy by a single percentage point, effectively a flat-footed tie.

The DSCC is seeking to capitalize on comments McMahon made to tea party members earlier this year saying she supports a “sunset provision” for major legislation such as Social Security.

McMahon’s opponents say that’s a clear indication she wants to end Social Security.

McMahon says that her comments were taken out of context and that she won’t support entitlement cuts for seniors.
