Murphy says he raised $3 million in the third quarter

Outspent many times over my Republican millionaire Linda McMahon, U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy, the Democratic U.S. Senate candidate, says this morning that his third-quarter filing with the Federal Election Commission will show that he raised $3 million in the third quarter, from 30,372 contributions, the average of which was $79. The $3 million is more than half of the previous $5.5 million he has raked in during this contentious Senate race. McMahon, the largely self-funded pro-wrestling co-founder, took in $1.3 million in contributions, including 601 individual checks, and loaned her campaign another $12.4 million in the July FEC filing, which has to be updated by October 15.
