I think the main reason for this is that Murphy got a late start on TV. She got out early with effective negative ads and saw solid results in the polls. Murphy and the nationals woke up, hit back hard, and restored a lot of the lost ground. That’s my “take-away” from this election. Negative ads are most effective when one-sided. If both sides do it they largely cancel each other out. Casual voters don’t know what to believe so we drift back towards the status quo.
You can smell the desperation in McMahon’s campaign…the Obama ads, the Dream Act shuffle, Mitt Romney could not be doing a better job.
