Early calls: House stays Republican; MI, WI, PA go Obama

Rep. Nancy Pelosi isn’t going to be House speaker again any time soon. Several networks say the House will stay in Republican hands, stalling Pelosi’s “Drive for 25″ seats campaign to take back the House.

When Pelosi appeared before the San Francisco Chronicle editorial board a few weeks back, she walked us district by district around the country telling us how Dems would win.

I questioned her math. Told her nonpartisan organizations said she had no chance of winning.

“Who? Which people?” Pelosi asked. Folks like the nonpartisan Rothenberg Political Report, I said. She dismissed their analysts as people who sit in offices and aren’t in the field like she is.

Meanwhile, networks are calling Michigan and Pennsylvania for President Obama. Michigan swung out of Romney’s grasp weeks ago and Pennsylvania was apparently briefly in play in late October — at least judging by Romney’s media buys there. He even campaigned in Pittsburgh on Election Day.

And Fox News just called Wisconsin for Obama. So much for the Paul Ryan effect.
