Family example prompts young voter

Steven Marcinka, 21, arrived to the Brookfield High School voting polls with his mother, Barbara, to cast his first presidential ballot.

Marcinka admits he didn’t take much of an interest at the start of the campaign season, but as the election drew closer, and he heard more of the news and flood of election advertisements, he started to be more intrigued. He also is from a voting family. So he learned a bit more about the candidates, their positions, and made up his mind about casting his vote.

“As long as the line isn’t too long,” Marcinka joked as he planned to fill in the circle next to President Barack Obama’s name on the Democratic line.

“I’m proud of him,” said his mother whose oldest son, Robert, 25, came to vote earlier in the day.
