Memory of elections past

Newtown resident Fred Kampmier III has been a political watchdog dating back to when he helped his father, a steadfast Republican in New Jersey, during an election back in 1936.

“Elections were very important to my family,” Kampmier said.

But Kampmier said this election season has left him disgusted.

“It’s a mess,” Kampmier said of the nasty rhetoric batted back and forth between candidates in almost every race. “There has been extremely too much publicity and advertising. We need to let people think and not listen to gossip.”
