Dear Dirk, I was stunned to read your short 1/17/13 “news” article, above, for the first time today. The article’s statements are false, misleading, and clearly agenda-driven. This is not what I would expected from you, based on my experience getting to know you as a reporter during the 2010 AG race. I am quite frankly shocked by this level of dishonesty and willingness to manufacture news. I do not — and have never — “backed conspiracy theorists.” Also, I have never believed – nor suggested — in any way, shape, or form — that I believe that President Bush (or anyone else) “masterminded the 911 tragedy.” In order to attribute such false beliefs or statements to me, you intentionally left out part of the quote that you use in the article. (The original post is still on my Facebook page for anyone who cares to discover the truth.) This type of “reporting” makes you the kind of reporter that gives the media a bad name. (BTW, after investigating the claims made by some, the Associated Press decided to NOT run a story; they went to my FB page and found that I had not said what you and a few others claim.) I am sorry if you may have felt that you needed to succumb to pressure placed on you by others at your paper or in the political realm to sink to this level. My advice, for what it’s worth: Your reputation is everything, so guard it zealously; you are capable of much, much better than this. – Martha

No, I do not — and have never — “backed conspiracy theorists.” Nor have I ever suggested that I believe — in any way, shape, or form — that President Bush (or anyone other than the terrorists and their terrorist organization leaders) “masterminded the 911 tragedy.” In order to attribute such beliefs or statements to me, you left out part of the quote you use in the article.
