Because nothing quite pairs with a beer flight like Linda McMahon and Tom Foley.

The tandem from Greenwich — central figures in statewide politics in recent years — is headlining an upcoming fundraiser for fellow Republican and Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst at Southport Brewing Co. in Stamford.

Herbst, 32, is seeking a third two-year term this November as the chief elected official of Trumbull, which is of strategic importance to both Republicans and Democrats.

Trumbull is the hometown of state Democratic Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo, who also serves as head of the local Democratic Town Committee.

Tickets to the Aug. 7 fundraiser are $100 per person in advance and $110 at the door, according to an invitation to the reception.

As if one would expect anything less from Republicans, a selection of wine will also be available to go with seasonal foods.

Here’s the roll call for the honorary host committee:

Tom Foley ‐ 2010 Nominee for Governor of Connecticut
Linda McMahon ‐ 2012 Nominee for U.S. Senate
Pat Longo & John Frey ‐ Republican National Committee
Themis Klarides & David Rutigliano ‐ State Representatives
Michael Pavia ‐ Mayor of the City of Stamford
Ed Dadakis, Eva Maldanado, Carl Massaro ‐ Republican State Central Committee
