California Dreamin’

It’s 1849 all over again for Richard Blumenthal.

The second quarter fundraising haul of Connecticut’s senior U.S. senator was aided by an infusion of political contributions from California.

One in 10 donations to Blumenthal came from the Golden State between April 1 and June 30, Blumenthal’s most recent filing with the Federal Election Commission shows.

Most of them came from the Bay Area and Napa Valley: San Francisco, Berkeley, Atherton, Rutherford and St. Helena.

It’s where Chardonnay meets iTunes or the French Laundry meets the Top of Mark.

Blumenthal’s contributors included Lisa and Douglas Goldman, the San Francisco couple who gave $10 million to the athletics department at the University of California-Berkeley and runs a charitable foundation. He founded a software company.

Of the $208,397 Blumenthal received during the second quarter, $29,055 came from California and was broken up into 23 donations.

Political action committees such as the Pfizer Inc. PAC ($1,500) OB-GYN PAC ($1,000) and Cablevision Systems Corp. PAC ($6,000) gave $74,500 to Blumenthal, who is in his first term and is up for re-election in 2016.
