John McKinney’s nascent campaign for governor is speaking with one voice: his own.
The most prominent Republican to formally enter the 2014 race thus far said Tuesday that he is currently vetting political operatives to manage and work on his campaign.
“I expect that I’ll hire one or two people in the next two weeks,” McKinney told Hearst Connecticut Newspapers.
McKinney, who is opting to seek taxpayer funding for his campaign, is expecting his paid staff to be limited to two positions during the short-term.
The veteran lawmaker from Fairfield said he is looking for talent inside the state with experience working on previous campaigns.
McKinney is turning to friends and political allies to help get his campaign off the ground.
“I’ve got a small group of volunteers,” he said.
