Former Congressman Anthony Weiner, who has taken the term “selfie” to new heights, or lows, depending on your vantage, has received $51,290 in campaign contributions from Connecticut residents for his floundering New York City mayoral candidacy.

Since Weiner publicly admitted on July 23 to sexting a young woman and sending her photos of his crotch — much like the Twitter scandal that forced him to resign from Congress — he’s collected just $65 from Connecticut.

A week before Weiner appeared side-by-side with his wife, Huma Abedin, at a cringe-worthy news conference, he received a $2,950 contribution from Empire State Building controlling partner and Greenwich resident Anthony Malkin, according to the New York City Campaign Finance Board.

Malkin is the brother-in-law of U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.

Weiner’s campaign war chest includes a $2,000 donation from Malkin leftover from 2007 when Weiner was prepping for a mayoral bid in 2009.

Malkin also gave $4,950 to New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, the favorite to win the Sept. 10 Democratic mayoral primary.

Malkin’s father, Peter Malkin, a fellow Greenwich resident and real estate mogul who also has a controlling interest in the Empire State Building, has given $2,000 to Quinn.
