Bluebeard: World Series gives baby-faced Democrat Murphy pause

If only Chris Murphy could have furloughed his razor.

The freshman senator from Connecticut — the antithesis of scruffy — is having a “Duck Dynasty” moment.

Murphy, 40, a Red Sox fan who grew up in Wethersfield and graduated from Williams College, could hardly be confused for Mike Napoli or Jonny Gomes.

But the thought of growing a beard in homage of the motley-looking American League pennant winners did cross the mind of the youthful Democrat — at least in jest.

A whopping two senators out of 100 — North Dakota’s John Hoeven and Maine’s Angus King — have moustaches, a sampling that would make the late George Steinbrenner proud.

What would Murphy look like with a beard? We wouldn’t just leave it to your imagination. See above.

Boston hosts the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 1 of the World Series tonight at Fenway Park.

By then, maybe, just maybe, Murphy will have a five o’clock shadow.
