Kindred spirits: Piers Morgan pledges $3K to Sandy Hook families

Piers Morgan is personally invested in this story.

CNN’s go-to voice for gun control reform and bombastic anchorman pledged $3,000 toward the Plunge for Sandy Hook, a Dec. 8 fundraiser at Lake Compounce amusement park in Bristol benefiting the families of the 26 school shooting victims.

Morgan agreed to sponsor Erica Lafferty (daughter of the slain Sandy Hook Elementary School Principal Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung — and Carlee and Jillian Soto (sisters of hero teacher Victoria Soto) for the solidarity plunge.

Proceeds from the 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. event will go to the My Sandy Hook Family Fund, which has raised $658,259 toward its goal of $2.6 million.

Morgan, the U.K. export who has jousted with Second Amendment activists on his primetime show, responded to a Tweet from Hochsprung’s daughter about the fundraiser.
