End of an era: Nancy DiNardo, chairman of Democratic State Central Committee, won’t run for re-election to head Trumbull Town Committee

She’s been chairman of the Trumbull Democratic Town Committee longer than she can remember, certainly longer than she’d care to remember, but Nancy DiNardo is telling friends and enemies, possibly enemies who are friends, knowing the self-destructive, eat-your-own aspects of Trumbull politics, that she will not seek another term leading the town committee. Here’s her email:

“Dear Friends,

I am writing to inform all of you that in March, when the DTC has the election for town chair, I will not be seeking another term. While I have enjoyed my tenure as chair, I believe that we need someone who can devote more time to local politics. As many of you already know, my role as state party chairwoman involves a tremendous amount of time in Hartford and traveling around the state.

I have enjoyed my many years in this role, the good times and the not so good times, our events and campaigns, but mostly the people I have met and the lasting friendships that have been built as a result of being involved in local Democratic politics.

I am proud of what we all accomplished in Trumbull and all of the great people we elected to serve our town. I believe that our strength has been in our belief in Democratic values, our desire to make Trumbull a great place to live and raise a family, and our ability to be inclusive to everyone, as one former Republican turned Democrat many years ago described, “like a family.”

I want to thank all of you who have supported me and our DTC over the past 30 years. It has been a rewarding experience for me and I appreciate all that you have done. I will remain on the town committee and continue to work to elect Democrats.

I also want to thank George Biagioni, Diane Wheeler and Mary Markham for their work as my co-officers on the DTC.  They always stepped up to ensure we were successful.

If you have an interest in serving in any of these capacities, I would be happy to discuss it with you.

Two final quick items. Please be sure to show up Monday for the caucus to elect our new DTC members and most importantly, please be sure to sell your raffle tickets.

Thank you for your involvement with our great party,
Nancynancy
