U mad bro? Murphy threatens to pull a Richard Sherman on the GOP

Even a U.S. senator isn’t above a little smack-talking.

Stewing over the lack of movement on extending unemployment benefits by Congress, Connecticut’s junior Democratic Senator Christopher Murphy took to social media to vent Sunday night and set the Twitter world ablaze in the process.

Sherman, an integral part of the National Football League’s stingiest defense who is notorious for his chippy play, preserved a 23-17 victory for Super Bowl-bound Seattle Seahawks in the waning seconds of Sunday’s NFC Championship game with a pass deflection in the endzone that was intercepted by teammate Malcolm Smith.

Flagged for taunting, the All-Pro corner with Compton roots and a Stanford diploma then launched into a on-air harangue against San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree during a post-game interview that is the stuff of legend.

Full disclosure: the writer is a Seahawks fan.

It’s hard to imagine Murphy flashing a choke sign at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kent.

Or how about getting up in the grill of Ted Cruz during his next filibuster and saying, “U mad bro,” as Sherman did to Tom Brady of the Patriots last year after a game in Seattle?
