Malloy, under continued pressure to offer himself up for re-election, says he will announce his plans in May

The governor just told reporters that he will wait until the end of the legislative session, which ends at 12:01 a.m. on May 8, to announce his possible re-election plans. That’s a whopping eight days before the party convention. So if he doesn’t run, Malloy leaves the state party holding the bag. This just came up at a news conference on online voter registrationthe governor had with Secretary of the State Denise Merrill and DMV Commissioner Melody Curry.

“I’ve spoken to this issue,” he said. “I don’t imagine myself being a candidate anytime before the session is over. I’d like to get through the session as governor as opposed to a candidate and that is my expectation.”
