Labor-intensive: Malloy keynotes union conclave in D.C.

If only Gov. Dannel P. Malloy could have hitched a ride on Air Force One.

For the second time in a fortnight and book-ending a visit by President Barack Obama to Connecticut, the Democratic governor is in the nation’s capital.

Malloy is scheduled to address an estimated 2,300 labor leaders Tuesday at the annual legislative conference of North America’s Building Trades Unions at the Washington Hilton.

Former President Bill Clinton made a cameo Monday at the union conclave, where the lineup of speakers includes U.S. Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va.

If Malloy is to win a second term this November, the governor needs to mobilize organized labor to show up for him at the polls, as well as women.
