Senate Majority Leader….Duff?

At the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce annual Eggs & Issues breakfast Friday morning, state Sen. Bob Duff was introduced — albeit jokingly — as the next Majority Leader of the Senate.

Chamber lobbyist Marshall Collins told the 130+ people in the room a rumor is going around the Capitol that Duff will be the next majority leader. When Duff, a Democrat who represents the other end of Route 7, took the microphone he did not demure.

Not much of a secret, actually, that Duff has been lining up support. When Senate President Pro Tempore Don Williams, D-Brooklyn, announced recently that he was retiring, the path was open for Senate Majority Leader Martin Looney, D-New Haven, to step up. And that would create the chance for the Norwalk Democrat to ascend.

Of course, it’s not an obstacle-free path. Duff would have to win a sixth term in November — and Democrats would have to keep the majority.
