Sacred Heart prof, recalling the tight 2010 gubernatorial race, thinks cross endorsements will be the key

Gary Rose, chairman of the Dept of Government and Politics at SHU, said in an interview a little while ago that the 2014 race has all the potential for a photo finish as the 2010 contest between Republican Tom Foley and Dan Malloy, who won by a razor-thin 6,404 votes. Recalling that Malloy got over 26,300 votes on the Working Families Party line, Rose hypothesized that cross endorsements will again loom large. It will put the onus on the Republican nominee to snare the Independent Party endorsement, not that it worked much for Republican Linda McMahon against Chris Murphy. But that was then. “Getting those third-party cross endorsements will be crucial,” Rose said after Malloy finally announced his intentions to stand for re-election.
