GOP gubernatorial debate next Friday, but Tom Foley, ahead in the polls, is giving it a miss

FoxCT and The Hartford Courant are sponsoring the first debate of the 2014 gubernatorial season next week. It will be held at noon on the 11th at the auditorium of the Mark Twain House on Farmington Avenue and will be broadcast on FoxCT Sunday, the 13th at 10 o’clock in the morning.

Expected participants include Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti, failed attorney general candidate Martha Dean and Joe Visconti, former West Hartford town council member. Conspicuous in his absence in the field is Tom Foley of Greenwich, the failed 2010 GOP gubernatorial contender who is very far ahead in the recent Quinnipiac University Poll.
