If you can’t explain what a derivative is, this probably isn’t the job for you.

And don’t count on lunching with the boss at Five Guys.

But so far as the food chain of Capitol Hill flacks goes, your prospective employer is no back bencher — Jim Himes is on the House Financial Services Committee and is national finance chair for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Himes is in the market for a communications director after his spokeswoman and adviser of five years, Elizabeth Kerr, accepted a position off the Hill at Business Forward. The Democratically-aligned organization brings federal, state and local lawmakers together with business leaders for briefings on Obamacare, the Jobs Act and various trade agreements. Kerr was brought in to run the press shop at Business Forward and help it make further inroads with Congress.

Joined at the hip with Himes since he arrived in Washington in January 2009, Kerr earned $80,000 in 2013, according to the salary watchdog website LegiStorm.com.

In 2008, Kerr served as the flack for the Michigan Democratic Party in her home state. Prior to that, she was deputy communications director for the Senate Democratic Caucus in the Wolverine State.
