Two months after announcing for re-election, Gov. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Wyman are near fund-raising goal

malloyThe power of incumbency and the efficacy of computer programs will come to partial fruition this weekend when Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman expect to reach the $250,000 threshold needed to leverage about $6.5 million in state public financing for their re-election bid. While Republican gubernatorial hopefuls have been raising money for months (2010 runner-up Tom Foley of Greenwich reached the $250,000 on May 15, but it is unclear whether he will participate in the Citizens Election Program), Malloy and Wyman achieved the total – in increments of $100 or less – in less than two months. Malloy announced he was seeking re-election on March 28 and the campaign immediately began sending out emails to 2010 contributors to help again.

“The Governor and Lt. Governor expect to finish their fund-raising this weekend and file jointly for a Citizens’ Election Program grant next week,” said James Hallinan, communications director for the Malloy/Wyman campaign.
