George H.W. Bush is back on terra firma.

Family members of the nation’s oldest living former president are feeling lofty nevertheless.

They were summoned to Kennebunkport, Maine, earlier than expected today for Bush’s 90th birthday festivities.

Nonagenarians are adrenaline junkies, too, as Bush’s first cousin, Debbie Walker Stapleton, found out when she watched the former POTUS do a tandem skydiving jump.

“He came in quite fast,” Stapleton told Hearst Connecticut Media by phone from the landing site, the lawn of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church.

This is Bush’s eighth jump, which he has made a birthday tradition.

“He was ecstatic when it was finished,” Stapleton said. “It was a very moving experience. It wowed everyone, young and old.”
