Political condiment? McKinney relishes two-party GOP gubernatorial throwdown

This from Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, upon the suspension of Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton’s GOP gubernatorial primary bid:

“I welcome a two-person race for the Republican nomination for Governor. This will provide Republican primary voters a clear choice on the issues.  The next Governor will have to close an almost $3 billion deficit.  Mr. Foley and I could not be more clearly different in our approach too it. Mr. Foley has stated definitively that he won’t reduce spending or seek concessions from state employee unions.  That leaves raising taxes or borrowing, which is the failed formula of the past. By contrast, I have proposed plans for real spending reductions and I will seek fair concessions from the unions.  State government is broken.  Dave Walker and I are the only team with a plan to fix the problem.  We look forward to a healthy primary debate.”
