In the deep blue northeast, there is a new speck of red: Connecticut.
Real Clear Politics, the popular polling aggregation and political analysis website, flipped the governor’s race from leans Democrat to leans Republican this week after GOP contender Tom Foley opened up a 9-point lead on incumbent Dannel P. Malloy in a New York Times/CBS News poll.
The dynamic shift comes with a major caveat, however.
Real Clear Politics maintains two separate national maps on its website, one that gives it the option of declaring a race as a “toss-up” and another that does not.
The website still has a potential rematch between Malloy and Foley listed as a toss-up race on the other map.
Malloy’s campaign declined to comment on the latest prognostication by Real Clear Politics.
