Newtown voters leading region’s single-digit turnout for McKinney\Foley clash

“Turnout appears to be light and we have not encountered any serious problems at the polls,” said Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, releasing mid-day turnout figures for the GOP gubernatorial primary. “The turnout will go up during the day, but it remains to be seen whether it can get to the 25 or 30-percent level.” Newtown apparently leads the region in turnout, if you don’t count tiny Bridgewater’s 36 voters. Several cities and towns, including Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport, have not reported.
