It’s lucky 7 for Tom Foley, but is it reliable?

The Republican gubernatorial challenger leads Democratic incumbent Dannel P. Malloy 45 to 38 percent in a new poll released Thursday by the right-leaning Rasmussen Reports.

Another 10 percent of the 750 likely voters who responded to the survey, which was conducted Aug. 18-19, remain undecided.

Seven percent of respondents answered that they preferred another candidate.

The poll’s margin of error was +/- 4 percent points with a 95 percent level of confidence.

Democrats will undoubtedly point out that Rasmussen is predisposed to GOP candidates and has given them a statistical bias, a trend examined by Nate Silver in his 538 blog, which characterized the polling outfit’s results as inaccurate.
