It had to happen. Gov. Malloy is under the radar in “New York City” today, while Tom Foley has actual public appearance in The Valley

boom4When it comes to daily schedules, Gov. Dannel Malloy has been Mr. Transparent, if not Gov. Frenetic. There is his daily schedule as governor, then there is the campaign, where the twain sometimes meet. The campaign has been announcing various political events, such as yesterday’s transportation forum, in which he shared, separately, a podium in North Haven with Republican challenger Tom Foley. The Capitol office has been announcing events related directly to the office, like http://www.governor.ct.gov/malloy/cwp/view.asp?A=4010&Q=553150It’s a fine line. Yesterday was the end of a five-day sprint of campaign-related announcements.

So since this is a cloudy day, a literal day without sunshine, it comes as a surprise that neither the Capitol crew nor the campaign staff have issued public schedules. Mark Bergman, spokesman for DanMalloy2014, cryptically says that “He is fundraising for the Connecticut Democratic Party in New York City today. He will be back this evening. But we aren’t going to release details of the events.”

Foley, meanwhile, has a public event this afternoon in Ansonia with Mayor David S. Cassetti. They are scheduled to walk around downtown and talk about the plans for a revamped train station and the remediation of brownfields. On most days, however, Foley offers no daily schedule, possibly in attempt to avoid a reprise of the embarrassing confrontation of late August outside a closed factory in Sprague.
