It was Christie’s third trip to Connecticut stumping for Foley and other republican candidates. Foley is challenging democratic Governor Dannel Malloy.

The bromance between Tom Foley and Chris Christie is on a hiatus.

Citing a scheduling conflict with his duties as chairman of the Republican Governors Association, Christie canceled a joint appearance with Foley scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at a farm — ironically named Fair Weather Acres — in Rocky Hill.

It would have been the New Jersey governor’s fourth visit to Connecticut on behalf of the GOP gubernatorial contender Foley since July, with the previous ones coming in Greenwich, Stamford and last week in Trumbull.

Democrats wasted little time trying to make political hay out of Christie’s change of plans.

“It’s no surprise that his biggest boosters—Chris Christie and the RGA—are running away from him,” the state Democratic Party said in a statement Tuesday.

Foley’s campaign dismissed the barbs.

“It will be rescheduled for another date soon,” said Chris Cooper, a spokesman for Foley, who will still visit the farm Tuesday.

Christie is scheduled to be in Maine Tuesday and in Florida on Thursday, according to the RGA, which has targeted the Connecticut governor’s race.
