“Fumblin’ in New London?” Three gubernatorial candidates meet for first time tonight

Joe Visconti, (left) the conservative, gun-rights advocate from West Hartford who petitioned his way onto the 2014 ballot for governor fair-and-square, has been kept out of previous debates between Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Republican investor Tom Foley of Greenwich. But tonight, Visconti, with 9-percent support in the latest Quinnipiac University Poll, will be included in the New London debate sponsored by The Day newspaper and Connecticut Public Television. The three-way showdown, which might be called “Fumblin’ in New London,” until someone comes up with a better rhyme, starts at 7 in the Garde Arts Centerjoevis. Will it be an aggressive slugfest or a policy-wonk festival? With less thasn three weeks before the election, it’s time for voters to pay attention, if they yet engaged in the discussions over Connecticut’s future.
