Malloy regrets? He has a few.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy this morning asked the Hearst Connecticut Media editorial boards for their endorsements in the imminent election. Asked what he regrets about his first four-year term, he was candid.

“I wish we were rolling back some of the tax increases that we had to have to balance the budget, unless we were going to mess Bridgeport up and unless we were going to cut the safety net. I wish I used better verbiage. I wish I was a better communicator. I wish a lot of things, but I don’t think anyone questions that I work really hard and that I have a plan for the future. What we need to do is have an even greater focus on our urban environments. I think we need to take on the creation of a second-chance society in America. You can’t expect Bridgeport, New Haven and Hartford to prosper if we treat 10,000 to 12,000 to 13,000 people as unemployable because they made a mistake at some point in their life. So we’ve got to figure out how to become a second-chance society again and get those people employed. And that will be a focus of what we’ll do. We have to focus on education and housing.”boom4
