Without the voters, Dan Malloy and Tom Foley are mere names on the ballot.

Both gubernatorial candidates are urging their supporters to register online or by mail to vote in Connecticut’s midterm election by the Oct. 21 deadline (today).

A valid identification from the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles is required to register to vote on the Secretary of the State’s website, which will accept applications until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday. Registration materials sent by mail must be postmarked with Tuesday’s date.

Voting is open to Connecticut resident who are 18 years old or will turn 18 by Election Day, which falls on Nov. 4.

The deadline for registering in person with local election officials is Oct. 28.

Connecticut does allow for same-day voter registration, which is typically done at a centralized location in each city or town, but not at every polling place.
