Former New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s Independence USA PAC has purchased more than $1.5 million in advertising time among local New York City broadcast-TV stations to help Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s re-election effort, Hearst Connecticut Media has learned. It’s positive payback for Malloy’s support of the response to the Newtown School massacre. The bipartisan legislation of April, 2013 expanded the ban on military-style rifles, such as the Bushmaster XM-15 used by Adam Lanza on December 14, 2012, as well as the prohibition on large-capacity ammunition magazines.
