Procrastinators unite! Voter-registration deadline tomorrow

voteIf you don’t register to vote and exercise your franchise, do you really have cause to complain about your government? Ponder that notion when you head to your local registrar of voters today and tomorrow. Secretary of the State Denise Merrill today reminds folks that the final deadline is Tuesday at 8 p.m.

“By law, Registrars of Voters are required to keep their offices across the state of Connecticut open up until the deadline to accommodate those last-minute voters who want to register before the election,” Merrill said in a statement. “Don’t sit on the sidelines, make sure your voice is heard and that you have the opportunity to influence the direction of our state and our country.  I am urging all eligible Connecticut residents to register to vote, cast a ballot on Election Day, and make a difference.”

For hair splitters and new arrivals to Connecticut, new residents arriving after October 28th but before Election Day, Nov. 4 may present themselves to local registrars for inclusion among active voters. Also, residents who become U.S. citizens and teens who turn 18 during the Oct. 28-Nov. 4 period can register until Election Day. Any questions? Call your local registrar in Town Hall or City Hall.
