Candidates for Governor on Election Night

Follow this post as we give updates from both candidates, GOP challenger Tom Foley and incumbent and Democrat Dannel P. Malloy, at their election night headquarters.

Update 12:30 a.m.

“We are going to win this thing,” said Malloy Wednesday morning to a cheering crowd of supporters at the Society Room in Hartford.

 

Update 12:25 a.m.

Democratic state chair Jonathan Harris tells the crowd at party headquarters that Malloy has 413,000 votes to Foley’s 401,000, according to reporter Ken Dixon.

Update 12 a.m.

About 40 people are sequestered in Tom Foley’s war room crunching the numbers, according to Neil Vigdor. 

Update 11:35 p.m.

Republicans at Tom Foley’s headquarters were pleased with the news that the GOP has taken control of the Senate. They apparently started celebrating and cheering.

Update 8:40 p.m.

A source within the Tom Foley party says the turnout from the Connecticut GOP in Tuesday’s election up 8 percent from 2010.

Update 8:25 p.m.:

Reporters Linda Lambeck and Neil Vigdor are at Tom Foley’s party at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.

Update 8:20 p.m.:

Reporter Ken Dixon is at the Malloy party at Hartford’s Society Room where the Governor is expected.

Update 8:10 p.m.:

The Tom Foley party at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich has an open bar for the first 90 minutes.

Foley is the recipient of $6.5 million in public funds for the general election. MORE HERE.

Update 7:45 p.m.:

The Tom Foley campaign has apparently run out of media credentials at its election night shindig in Greenwich, according to reporter Neil Vidgor who is on scene.
