McKinney: Foley damaged by attack ads

My how the times change.

Once bitter adversaries for the Republican nomination for governor, state Senate Minority Leader John McKinney admonished Gov. Dannel P. Malloy Tuesday for his TV attacks on GOP challenger Tom Foley.

“He has brought our politics to a new low,” McKinney said.

McKinney, who reached a peace accord with Foley the very next day after their primary and even did the honors for Foley’s ALS ice bucket challenge, said there has been a disconnect from reality in the content of the attack ads.

“I think it hurts Tom more than the governor,” McKinney said.

McKinney said he had to convince one Republican female voter in his hometown of Fairfield that Foley is not an extremist on social issues.

“She came up to me and thought he was pro-life,” McKinney said.
