Recipient of taxpayer funds, Foley opts for open bar

Tom Foley’s supporters are being treated to a taxpayer-funded beer buzz.

Or whatever their preferred libation is, even organic beer.

The recipient of $6.5 million in public funds for the general election, the Foley campaign chose to do an open bar at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich for the first 90 minutes of its election night bonanza.

After that, Republicans are on their own.

There is no prohibition on candidates using taxpayer funds to pay for booze.

But on the night of the GOP primary in August, Foley went with strictly a cash bar.
