WNPR talk show host Colin McEnroe hosted President Obama after the 1 p.m. news this afternoon. The president, in a phone interview, spoke about the polling delay in Hartford this morning calling it a frustration. He urged residents not to let it deter them from voting.

“Obviously I am a strong supporter of Gov. Malloy,” Obama said. “We know this is going to be a close election. I just want everyone, though, to just go and vote.”

He went on to talk about his recent appearance in Bridgeport. “The argument I made when I was in Connecticut when I was in Bridgeport is that you can’t afford to be cynical,” the president said.

President Obama made a few more remarks in support of Malloy, but drove home the point that his main incentive for being on the show was to encourage Connecticut voters to go to the polls.

“Make sure to go vote. Do not give away your power; do not buy into the notion that it doesn’t make a difference.”

He also expressed support for the Chicago Bears joking to the host, “If I had known you were a Packers fan I wouldn’t have come on.”
