Gun-control bill of 2013 worked both ways in House races

mikeRemember when the House was 97 Democrats to 54 Republicans? The majority still has it. But come January 7, when the next General Assembly gets sworn in,it might be 87 Democrats to 64 Republicans. One race is too close to call, according to Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey, D-Hamden. He said that most of the losses were among first-term Democrats from eastern Connecticut who voted in favor of the landmark 2013 prohibitions on military-style rifles and large-capacity ammunition magazines. On the flip side, House Ds picked up Rep. Mike Molgano’s 144th District (left) seat representing Stamford, a hard-working lawmaker who voted against the 2013 gun laws.
