Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Andrew Doba will be stepping down as Director of Communications at the end of Governor Malloy’s first term, with Mark Bergman taking over in the position.

“Doba has been a close adviser of mine since he joined this administration. I’ve valued his counsel, and know that wherever he chooses to work next, he will be an asset,” said Governor Malloy. “From historic storms to unimaginable tragedy to the day-to-day operations of state government, we have faced many challenges over the last four years. With Andrew’s help, we have effectively communicated our vision for the state in the face of this adversity, and done so while making tremendous progress for residents. I want to thank him for his service, and wish him well in whatever is next.”

“As someone who grew up in Ansonia, I could not have imagined a more rewarding opportunity than serving Governor Malloy for last three years,” said Andrew Doba. “Under any circumstances, this is a difficult job. But the challenges we have faced as an administration have been above and beyond anything that anyone would have foreseen when the Governor was sworn in. As tough as it’s been, the work we did to advance the Governor’s agenda has been the best job I’ve ever had. And while I’m sad to leave, I’m fortunate to have a number of opportunities that I look forward to pursuing in the coming years.”

Doba will stay on as a Senior Adviser to assist with the transition, help with the coming inauguration and the start of the legislative session. His final date of state service will be determined in the coming weeks.
